Can I change my date instead of cancelling?

Weather questions
What happens if it rains or the sea is rough?
If the operator or the authorities cancel for weather or safety, you choose a new date or a 100% refund, including the $5 booking fee.
Will my tour go ahead in light rain?
Usually yes. Light rain or clouds are common in the tropics and pass quickly. Tours run when the operator and authorities consider them safe, and light rain alone is not a reason for a refund.
Which excursions are most affected by weather?
Boat trips such as the Saona Island tour, Catalina Island and the party boat depend most on sea conditions. Land tours like buggies and the Santo Domingo tour usually run in light rain – and a muddy buggy ride is half the fun.
What about hurricane season?
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June to November. Most days are perfectly fine, but if a storm approaches, the authorities can close ports and boat trips are cancelled. In that case you choose a new date or a full refund. Keep a flexible day in your plans if you can. Read more in our guide to the best time to visit Punta Cana.
Problems on our side
What if you cannot confirm my date after I pay?
You receive a 100% refund, including the booking fee.
What if my pickup does not arrive?
If your pickup does not arrive within 30 minutes of the confirmed time and we cannot offer a solution the same day, you receive a full refund.
When there is no refund
To be fair to everyone, some situations are not refundable:
- Missing the pickup because you were not at the confirmed place and time, or gave a wrong location.
- Refusal of service for safety reasons, such as alcohol, dangerous behaviour, or age, height, weight or health requirements that were not disclosed.
- Leaving the activity early, or not using included services such as lunch, drinks or snorkeling.
- Light rain or cloudy weather when the operator and authorities consider the activity safe.
The simple fix for most of these: be at the pickup point a few minutes early, keep WhatsApp switched on, and tell us about any health or mobility needs when you book.
Payments and refunds
How are refunds paid?
Approved refunds go back to your original card through Stripe within 3 business days of approval. Your bank may take a few more days to show it.
Do private tours have the same policy?
Private tours, private transfers, catamaran charters, groups of 10+ and special-event dates may have a stricter policy, always stated in your confirmation before you pay.
When do I pay for my excursion?
Only after a local agent confirms availability. You then receive a secure payment link.
Smart planning tips to avoid losing a tour day
- Book boat trips early in your stay. If the weather forces a change, you still have days left to reschedule.
- Keep one flexible day in your plans, especially between June and November.
- Don’t book big trips on arrival or departure day. Flights get delayed and long excursions start early.
- Space out full-day tours like Saona, Samaná and Santo Domingo with a rest day in between.
- Tell us about health, mobility, pregnancy or age when you book, so we match the right tour and avoid refusals on the day.
- Save our WhatsApp number (+1 829 282 5168) so you can reach us quickly if something changes.
- Check your confirmation for the exact pickup place and time, and be there a few minutes early.
Planning several tours? Send them all in one request and we will build a schedule that leaves room for the weather.
How to book with peace of mind
- Send your request on our booking page or on WhatsApp – no payment needed.
- A local agent confirms availability, pickup time, inclusions and total price.
- Pay through a secure Stripe link.
- Get a reminder with your pickup details before the tour.
Still have a question? Our general FAQ page covers pickups, payments and what to bring, and our booking terms have the full details.
Ready to plan your day? Send a request with no payment upfront. A local Bullet Travels agent confirms the date, pickup and final price before you receive a secure payment link.
